Review Of Dirty Girls
Wow wow wow. As expected, Lily White nailed this book to perfection. It was C for crazy - just the way I loved it! Super intriguing, dark, depraved and so very twisted. It made for a perfect dark thriller with dash of romance, making for a delicious and spicy read. I became a huge fan of Lily White after reading the wishing well, and Five made me crazy about her books. I didn't think she could get better than that considering she herself had set the bar so high and then came book at the same level as Five! I am still gawking over how amazing the book is. Again, I really don't want to touch upon the story considering it's a mystery-thriller and the level of info provided in the blurb is sufficient. It gives the gist without getting into the finer details. Adding to that, this book touch upon a very delicate and troublesome theme of bullying and the whole 'social' strata in high school and this ultimate need to be 'famous and popular' and how the students can go to any extent to get into this social groups just to appear 'cool'. It's a subject everyone can relate and this book beautifully throws light on the 'dangerous' face of it. And the social message that is conveyed through this story hits the mark and leaves a great impact. That's what I love about Lily White's books - she doesn't just tell a story, she also send a very important message that so flawlessly entwines with the story without seeming out of place or forced. This book is the perfect example for the same. All the characters - though limited are diverse and equally interesting/appealing. The twists are phenomenal and towards the end there is shock of shock leaving me in splits and also in awe of Lily's ability to write such excellent thrillers. The pacing is also solid and there is no chapter boring and no scene that is unnecessary and drags. The romance also adds to the story but is not over the top and is done very realistically. We have policy, FBI agent, gang leader, our heroine who is clear on how she is and what she doesn't want, her protective and absent brother, her friends she always tries to protect and increasing number of dead bodies of women piling up. A huge shout-out to Soren's character. Absolutely amazing! I couldn't help but love the guy!!! This book deserves 5 stars and more! Wonderful start to the year. Loved it!!!!!
