Review Of Forgetting Jamie
The author was new to me, but I'm so glad that I gave this one a try. Anna Brooks has earned my respect for being a fabulous writer and she has done such an amazing job with this book! It was a second-chance rockstar romance but very different from anything else I have read in this trope .
What I loved the most - The characters are flawed, the story is gritty and writing is sharp. The right ingredients to make this story a terrific entertainer. It was a not a simple and casual read. The circumstances, situations and misunderstandings and their consequences led to some sticky, and hard times and as frustrating and heart-breaking it was at times, it added to the beauty of the book and made it all the more alluring. And the way everything unfolded, made it all the more realistic relatable.
It's the characters that stole my heart and not because they are so 'perfect' and 'right'. On the contrary it was their flowed nature, loving so passionately and yet falling victims to hostile situations and misunderstanding that made them 'feel' and empathize for them. Jamie in his own light was a compelling, brooding hero, who had this protective and possessive flair and Masie, on the other hand complimented him with her demure and matured, nature. Together they made a explosive and perfect couple and like destiny had it, they got a second-chance to make things 'right', which took a long route that tested them , their love and their regained trust in one another at every stage. Overall I was completely invested in their story and enjoyed it. I'm looking forward to the next book in the series.
5 angst filled stars.
