Review Of Outnumbered

This is one of the best books I have read this year and is truly deserving of 5 stars!!! When it comes to reviewing books and actually giving 5 stars, I take into account a lot of factors and only if it satisfies at least 90% of them, I reward it with 5 star and this story had it all, except one small thing but it's not too much of a big deal. Let me start. This is an amazing story and has a very unique and thoroughly fleshed storyline. The entire book is told from Bishop's point of view and considering the 'subject' matter of the book, it makes complete sense. This is the point where the unqiue elements of the book starts- an entire book from the guy's POV. Secondly the settings - The cold mountain areas of Canada. This is a setting I rarely come across in books and it was a pleasant experience to read about it. The amount of detailing in the story in mind-boggling. Kudos to the author for capturing the essence of the place, people, weather and nature so beautifully!! Most of the times such detailing is not given too much prominence in books, but it was required for this book and the author did complete justice on those grounds. Coming to the juicy parts- Story and the characters. Storyline was amazing, and despite being complicated, there were no obvious loopholes and it flowed really well. What I loved most were the number of twists and turns and how they were handled! Again, beautiful work! It had distinguishable and clean beginning, middle and end and that's exactly why I feel this can turn out to be a great movie!! It had everything - action, mystery, suspense, humor, love, sex and pain! A perfect combo. The characters are the best part of this book. Bishop was amazing and his character was handled with perfection. The way he tried to understand what's happening, how to handle Seri, how to piece together the information, his internal monologue- It was done beautifully and flawlessly. I loved Seri, Netti and Iris. I won't go into mcuh details about them as they are more or less spoilers but the whole transitions and contrasting personalities were executed smoothly. I can't forgot Solo. He was a perfect addition to this mix and added the much needed humor. Overall a cute and nice family. My one small issue is with the ending. For the most part of it, it was a predictable one. Not that it wasn't nice, but considering the various twists in the book, I wished it were something different that would once again throw me into a tail spin. That would have been an ever better ending for this unique tale. But nonetheless it's truly worthy of 5 stars.

5 mind-blowing stars
