Review Of The Monday Girl by Julie Jhonson

This book left me reeling with a hell lot of emotions and it was such a crazy yet joyous ride from the start to the stop. I was totally engrossed in the proceedings and loved every part of it!! I have read the Boston series by Julie Johnson and knew what to expect from the female protagonist and I was bang on right!! She is kick-ass, sassy and so damn sarcastic. I love these traits in the female lead and Kat ( Katherine) was all that and so much more! This book felt like I was actually watching a motion picture and there is a film within the book so it was more like film within a film and it did deliver and was very good entertainment:p So coming to the gist of the story, Katherine ( who is a struggling actor and wants to make it big ) lands a role of a lifetime ( out of sheer luck and Wyatt;) ) and is cast for a movie based on a book she loved, directed by an ace award winning director and with Greyson as her co-star. Greyson is a biiiigggg star and drop dead gorgeous..And is also ranked sexiest man for three years straight:p But there is more to it, he also happens to be one of her first crushes when they had done a day-time show many years ago..So when these two meets again, Kat obviousy remembers but Greyson doesn't and in that moment the love-hate relationship between the two starts. But again not to forget Wyatt, who is the producer of the movie and the one who actually recognised the talent in her and gave her the role. He is nearly ten years elder to her but the kind of chemistry the two have is totally relatable and likeable, but Kat seems to have her eyes only on Garyson who doesn't do 'relationships' and Kat is quite cynical about it and knows how he is very well....BUT ..The rest can be guessed.. The story by itself doesn't offer anything new and is something which can be predicted but the uniqueness comes from the way it is told through Kat's eyes. There is loads of monologue in this book ( some may like it and some may not, but I loved it) and that has become more like a signature trait of the author since I have observed it in her other books too. They are really good and offer relevant comparisons and make us see relationships in general with different perspectives. It really takes a truly talented and genius author to come up with them and the author is truly gifted in those regards. There are also certain dialogues from Wyatt and Greyson on their take on relationships which totally stand out and offer completely opposite perspectives. Going ahead with the characters..Hmm..I liked Grayson and I didn't also. He is a typical playboy and has always been upfront about how he is. Kat is totally awesome and even towards the end, I completely understood her actions and even felt her pain. I can't blame her for her actions or feelings. Sometimes we are well aware of how a person is and also know that he can be FATAL to our heart and yet, we can't help ourself from falling for such a person. (Have been there and felt the pain, so can totally relate to it). Wyatt is a typical Viking ( so she calls him). He is cool, understanding, sweet, helpful, a loyal friend and a sweetheart. I totally loved him and honestly I saw more chemistry between her and Kat than Grauseon and Kat. It is a typical love triangle but with its own twists and turns. I have a craze for love triangles and this totally lived upto my expectations. The other prominent characters are- Kat's bestie Harper and Kat's mom Cynthia. Harper is funny, and always looks out for Kat. Cynthia is a horrible mom and most of Kat's low self esteem and issues take root from her. Towards the end there are loads of WTF moments which I kind of saw coming, but they will keep us hooked to the book. It also ends on a big CLIFFHANGER and I for one am dying to get my hands on the next book to see who she chooses:p I am in team Wyatt. The other highlights of the book are the whole island scenes. They are truly magical and enchanting. The author has also given a good justification as to why the book was named as Monday Girl and it makes perfect sense. Definitely a five star read for me!! Loved it.
