Review of The Prince's Plan
Let me start from the beginning.. The prologue was a nice setup explaining exactly what was to come. It introduced Danny's character perfectly and ended with a jarring note. It set the tone of the book and told the reader what to expect from the book. I honestly couldn't wait to get started. The first chapter was a good introduction but i wish it explained what Danny's does for a living exactly because I did not know that until later in the book. It would've cemented his character better. Other than that, the flow was good, gripping and made me curious to find out more. I personally loved Marnie's character development. It was the best part of the book. I honestly couldn't tell if Beth was being distant because he was using drugs or being just a bratty sister because she's all supportive later. That was a bit confusing. I did not understand why Robert would let Danny go out with Nia if he knew she did drugs, if he didn't know then why didn't Danny tell him? I think Robert would be more concerned about how getting back into drugs would affect Danny's career more than getting some publicity for a single song.
Marnie's backstory was explained brilliantly, I could feel her pain as if it was my own. Their love story was beautiful but a little uneven. Especially due to Brian. How could she even think about liking him after he insulted her that way.. and how did he change his mind about her so quickly? After some time, the "will they won't they" situation between Danny and Marnie got a little old. The tiger in the restaurant was really weird.. I thought it was his dream or hallucination or something. I thought it was unnecessary. The ending was good though but predictable. Overall, I think it was a good read with its ups and downs.
I give this book 3.5 stars.
