Review of Dreams of 18

This was an enjoyable read and I especially loved Violet's character, and the whole 'love arc' between her and Graham - the way their love story started when she was merely sixteen, how obsessed she was with him and how an innocent kiss ruined everything for them. The story started out unique and the mess the characters got into - especially considering that Brian (Graham's son) was also in lover with her, that she wasn't even aware of, add nice and enjoyable complications to the already sticky situation, which clearly worked for the story. And also the sex scenes were extremely hot and unqiue and took their chemistry to an all never level, which was again thoroughly enjoyable.

But is this the best book I have read by the author? Not actually. Not because this book is lacking but it is almost very similar to medicine man, Bad boy blues and even Unrequited love to an extent. They all follow the same pattern and considering I read Unrequited Love first, it's the one I loved the most and the other books that followed (with exception of God's and monsters) felt like different versions of the same story. They are all really romantic and super hot love stories but they all follow the same pattern - especially medicine man, bad boy blues and now dreams of eighteen where their is taboo elements of sorts, and either of two protagonists have some issues (rooting from their past) and the climax of all of the stores are very similar and it's on very predictable lines. Also to add on, even the 'voice' and 'tone' of the female protagonists are very similar (especially Willow and Violet). And again, this doesn't mean, it's not good but just that I want to read something a little different and more 'complex' perhaps with a totally unique storyline( something like God's and Monsters - it was totally out of the box and that's what made is some awesome ). Saffron is a gifted author and I love her seamless and smooth writing. It's one of my favorites and though versatility is not a must for a writer, I do wish she gives us something unique next time. Keeping my fingers crossed and looking forward to her next books!

More on this book - Graham was character I could relate to towards the end and though I do understand his hesitancy and reservations, I am so glad that he was there for her in every way she required and he was so damn HOT and adorable at the same time. I also loved Brian's character and wish to see more of him in another book - hopeful with him as the protagonist?! I also loved the whole lollipop and Rose garden references. It gelled with with the story. And as a couple Mr. Edwards and Violet were awesome and just perfect for one another
