Review Of Serenading Heartbreak

This book was heartbreakingly real and so filled with angst, I loved it. It was a love triangle but different from the other books of the same trope. It has its own unique flavor to it and so very 'unpredictable' and so many 'OMG I didn't see this happening' moments and that's what mainly stole the story for me and especially the three lead characters - Stevie Everett and Aiden. They were all flawed and never always right and yet despite their flaws, the author made me connect with and love them nevertheless.

Let me start with Everett - he is a really broken guy and all he wants is an escape and a fresh start that he hopes to attain by touring with the band. But he will have to leave behind his one true love that - Stevie ( his best buddy Hendrix's sister) and that's a heartbreaking goodbye without any hopes for a future. But life is never that simple and easy is it? And the author proved it with there books where their paths keep interesting and he can't just let her go. She is all he sees, and feels and even writes about and those songs of his are so very beautiful and heartbreaking at the same time! But Everett is an addict with a very low self esteem and this makes him fuck up so many times and that's when Aiden comes into the picture. He is picture perfect and exactly the kind of person who could complete and be there for Stevie, everyone Everett decides to just walk away without any promises of ever returning. I was in verge of tears everytime Stevie found herself stuck between the two men in very sticky situations indeed. She couldn't help love them both in such similar yet different ways. And Every time she had to make a choice between the two ..my heart literally took a fall.

I could connect with Clover and every direction she took. Hear pain and even love was palpable and the strength she had to accept such a love and forgive is also something I really looked upto in her. She was the true star in this whole story.

The only reason I am giving this 4 instead of 5 is because of Aiden's character and relation with Stevie that could have been explored more. He was a great character, no doubt in that, but I felt he wasn't given as much attention and scenes that were given to Everett and Stevie.

4 angst filled stars.
